COUNSELLOR & PSYCHOTHERAPIST

Helping you transform trauma into strength and resilience by empowering you to take control of your life and create positive change

Sally Edwards Psychotherapist and Counsellor specialising in trauma therapy

I am a fully qualified counsellor / psychotherapist based in Orpington, Kent.

My specialism is on the impacts of trauma, from events such as abuse, childhood neglect, PTSD and CPTSD, sexual assault, accidents, bullying and victimisation, narcissistic abuse, financial trauma (business failures, redundancy or bankruptcy), crime, death of a loved one, divorce, domestic abuse or violence, serious illness and medical trauma.

But I also work with clients with many other issues, including:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety and panic

  • OCD behaviours

  • Self-harm

  • Self-destructive behaviours

  • Eating concerns

  • Body image issues

  • Self-sabotage

  • Low self-esteem

  • Poor self-confidence

  • Stress and overwhelm

  • Family / relationship difficulties

  • Work and career issues

  • Life transitions

In my work with clients I provide support using a trauma-informed approach, which means rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I am instead more interested in asking, "What's happened to you?" Because usually the issues we struggle with have a direct link to what we have been through in life.

During therapy I will aim to help you understand and overcome your traumatic experiences and develop greater inner strength and resilience. By building these qualities, you can become more capable of handling future difficulties. I hope to empower you, which involves supporting you to take control of your own life and make decisions that are in line with your values and goals. My role is to help you to create the life you want by making intentional, positive changes; this can include changes in behaviour, thinking patterns, relationships, and other areas of life that are important to your well-being and happiness.

Please note that I only work with adults over the age of 18 and I do not offer couples or group therapy.

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Accredited Professional Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)
