ABOUT ME
ABOUT ME
Sally Edwards

Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist

Welcome

I'm a fully qualified psychotherapist and EMDR therapist offering in-person sessions at my private practice in Kent, close to Bromley, Orpington and South East London, as well as online therapy across the UK.

My specialism is understanding the lasting impact of traumatic experiences. I work in a trauma-informed way, which means that rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?", I'm more interested in asking, "What's happened to you?" Our thoughts, emotions, behaviours and ways of relating to others are often shaped by the experiences we've had, particularly those that have felt overwhelming, frightening or emotionally painful.

Many of the people I work with arrive in therapy feeling overwhelmed. Outwardly they may seem capable and composed, yet inwardly they feel stuck, anxious or depleted. They've reached a point where something needs to change. The ways they've learned to cope no longer feel sustainable, and something about life doesn't sit right — even if they can't yet put it into words.

They may be experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-esteem or relationship difficulties. Often, these struggles make more sense when viewed in the context of earlier experiences. Understanding that connection can bring a sense of relief, self-compassion and clarity, even when those experiences feel long ago.

They're not necessarily in crisis, but they know they don't want to keep living this way. They've spent years holding everything together, carrying a great deal and coping quietly. Now, something inside is asking for more space, more honesty and more ease. They're looking for a calm, compassionate place to understand themselves more deeply, heal from what's happened, and move forward feeling more like themselves.
What I Offer

My work centres on helping clients understand the emotional impact of life's more difficult chapters — and supporting them to build resilience, ease inner tension, and reconnect with a grounded, resourced sense of self. This is therapy that holds both depth and possibility.

I support adults navigating a range of emotional and psychological challenges, including:

-
Anxiety and panic
-
Depression and low mood
-
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
-
Low self-esteem
-
Stress and overwhelm
-
Feeling stuck, lost or disconnected
-
Emotional sensitivity and dysregulation
-
Perfectionism and inner criticism
-
Grief, loss and emotional adjustment
-
Life transitions (career change, parenting, ageing, menopause, loss, relocation)
-
Relationship difficulties (including patterns of avoidance, people-pleasing or conflict)
-
Difficult family dynamics and early relational patterns
I use an integrative approach that draws on EMDR, somatic, and relational therapies to support meaningful, sustainable change. EMDR isn't only for the past — it's also an effective way of working with stuck negative beliefs, low confidence, and patterns that feel hard to shift through talking alone.

We work gently and intentionally, at a pace that feels safe and empowering. This isn't just about easing distress — it's about helping you move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-leadership.

Please note that I work only with adults (18+) and offer individual therapy sessions. I do not offer couples or group therapy.

I'm an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a Member of the EMDR UK Association.
